About The Auctioneer

Phil Currie has been in the auction business for over 30 years. He started his career with a benefit auction for his church. After that auction he was given the opportunity to go to the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA with his friend Larry Cox. He earned his Auctioneering Degree in 1986.

After college he started Currie – Cox Auctions. During this time he was able to work with Carly Schuberg an auctioneer with over 50 years experience. He next worked with Bob Parker in Currie – Parker Auctions. The years of experience, training, and hard work combined have helped form Currie Auction Service.

Over the years Phil has donated his time to auctions for such causes as the United Way, Mecosta County Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Ferris State University, Spectrum Health of Reed City and Big Rapids, St. Mary’s, Trinity Lutheran, Moose Lodge, Big Rapids Elks Lodge and many more. Over his career he has helped these worthy charities bring in over $100,000 a year with a total well over $3 million during his entire 30+ year career.

With the help and support of his wife Carmen and the help from the friendly staff, Currie Auction Service is the choice for exciting, professionally managed and successful auctions.

In 2022 Phil and his son Tommy joined together to start Currie Online Auction Service located just a half-mile off of US131 in Big Rapids.

Before joining his Dad fulltime in January of 2022, Tommy had worked the last 16 years in Utility Construction where he worked his way from a field laborer when he started in 2005 to General Foreman in 2012 and a Project Manager from 2016 to 2021.

When they aren’t at work…..

Phil can be found spending time with friends on the golf course, deer hunting or with his family (Wife Carmen, 3 kids – Tommy, Jennifer & Kourtney & 7 grandkids – Grace, Logan, Charlotte, Alaina, Miles, Haizley & Colton) and volunteering his time for the many benefit auctions listed previously.

Tommy can be found spending time with his wife Laura and their four kids (Grace, Logan, Charlotte & Miles) on the Muskegon River in the summer, attending his kids sporting events throughout the year, deer hunting and in the fall volunteering as a coach for the Big Rapids Rocket Football 7th & 8th Grade team.
